Football mense, our Premier Soccer League (PSL) Top Scorer has 10 goals in roughly 26 matches; others follow in similar or worse ratio.
Should the blame be only on the strikers or does the defensive mentality of our teams contribute to this poor state? For instance Pitso Mosimane had been defensive in the last minutes of Mamelodi Sundowns’ recent matches.
There’s also the issue of our strikers being converted or being given other roles that limited their goal scoring chances e.g. Bernard Parker of Kaizer Chiefs.
Or we should just accept they we aren’t a nation that produces prolific strikers.
With few matches remaining I bet Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi can still come to Mzansi (South Africa) and compete for the Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot award!
