Thulani Serero should apologise to Stuart Baxter

Bafana Bafana midfielder Thulani Serero has decided to pull out of South Africa’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Senegal at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Friday. The game will kick off at 19h00.

“He gave the indication to [Bafana Bafana team manager] Bra Barney [Kujane] that if he is not going to play he does not want to come to camp. This is a national team and not a club, this is not a place where we can guarantee people places, if he does not feel that it’s an honour enough to be called to the national team camp, then he may as well stay where he is. Whether that’s permanent I don’t know,” Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter told the media in Polokwane.

So, Thulani Serero wants to be guaranteed a place in Bafana Bafana’s starting eleven? What makes him that special to verbally command the coach [Stuart Baxter] to select him ahead of other players?

The only way to convince the coach to select you is not through useless rhetoric but in training. Whoever advised him has just created a rift between him and the coach.

Thulani just apologise and come sit on the bench and hope you can at least come in on the 89th minute.
