The South African Football Association (SAFA) on Monday announced the fixtures of the inaugural SAFA Women’s National League.
All games will take place at the Nike Centre in Soweto on Saturday and Sunday with all 12 teams scheduled to play and entry to the stadium will be free of charge.
“The South African Football Association (SAFA) is proud to officially announce the fixtures of the inaugural SAFA Women’s National League. As promised by the Association, the league kicks off in the month of celebrating women’s month with some mouth-watering fixtures to kick off the season,” SAFA said in a tament.
“All matches will take place at the Nice Centre in Soweto this weekend with all 12 teams scheduled to play.
“Bloemfontein Celtic kick off the season against University of Western Cape on Saturday at 10h00 with Durban Ladies taking on Tsunami Queens at 12h30. Coal City Wizards face University of Johannesburg the last fixture of the day at 15h30 in what promises to be a tough encounter.
“The action continues on Sunday with the first fixture being Golden Ladies against Thunderbirds Ladies at 10h00. First Touch Academy will be looking at getting maximum points in their first match against Tshwane University of Technology at 12h30.
“The last fixture of the day will see Tshwane giants, Mamelodi Sundowns taking on Richmond Ladies in a 15h30 fixture.
“SAFA’s Acting General Manager for Football Business, Mr Mzwandile Maforvane urged fans to come out in their numbers in support what promises to be a dawn of a new and exciting journey for women’s football.
“The Association has been hard at work in preparation for this weekend’s matches and ensuring that the league kicks off. We urge fans in and around Soweto to come out in their numbers in support of the women’s game. For the league to be a success, we need all stakeholders, which include media and fans to show their support and assist in taking the league forward” said Maforvane.
