PUMA has unveiled giant murals of Gianluigi Buffon in Paris, Tokyo, Berlin, Johannesburg at old Park Station, Sao Paolo and Moscow to pay tribute to the Italian goalkeeping legend’s 20 years of dedication and passion, in anticipation of an unprecedented 6th World Cup appearance in Russia in 2018.
The murals, by street artists Kamp Seedorf, are in the great cities where Gigi made his 5 World Cup appearances – and hopefully his 6th in 2018. Another mural was also unveiled in Turin, where he plays his club football.
As a goalkeeper Gigi, who lifted the 2006 World Cup, does not get to wear the beloved ‘Azzuro’ blue jersey. But that all changes tonight when he fulfills his dream to wear the blue shirt on-pitch.
To honour his contribution to Italian football, Gigi will get to slip on PUMA’s all new Italy home kit in the World Cup qualifier against Macedonia, with his teammates wearing the Away jersey. A well-deserved tribute that has never been seen in football.
The rest of the Italian team will get to wear the new Home shirt when they play Albania on Monday 9 October.
The new Italy Home kit will be in-store from 17 October 2017 at PUMA, Totalsports, The Cross Trainer, Studio 88 and selected retailers nationwide. Retail Price R1399.
