Knox Mutizwa’s brilliantly taken goal against KwaZulu Natal neighbours Maritzburg United on the opening day of the 2018/19 Absa Premiership season was voted by the public as the stand-out goal for the August Goal of the Month award.
A moment of magic from the Golden Arrows forward saw him execute a stunning bicycle kick towards the end of the game, a goal that is now a contender for the Goal of the Season award.
Mutizwa’s effort, one of 70 goals for August, was selected from a shortlist of ten contenders from fan votes, who picked their favourite via www.psl.co.za.
Other contenders included Bidvest Wits’ Deon Hotto’s cracking strike against Kaizer Chiefs, Ronald Putche’s volley in Cape Town City’s win over SuperSport United and Joseph Mhlongo’s superb long-range effort for Black Leopards against Orlando Pirates, just to name a few.
The Zimbabwe-born Mutizwa becomes the third Golden Arrows player to win the Goal of the Month award in the past two Absa Premiership seasons following in the footsteps of Lerato Lamola and Siphelele Magubane.
Members of the public are urged to continue to decide the winner of the Absa Premiership Goal of the Month award through casting their votes on www.psl.co.za.
Each month, a member of the public who votes stands a chance to win a prize courtesy of Absa. For the month of August, winner is Ngceke Mkhuseni from Umtata who won a 2018/2019 Mamelodi Sundowns jersey.

Every month, one lucky fan will win a jersey of their favourite Absa Premiership club. The winning fan will be selected through a random draw after voting for their favourite goal.
Each of the goals selected during the monthly voting will go towards the list of goals that will be voted for the Absa-lutely Goal of the Season at the end of the season.
