Orlando Pirates got their 2017/18 Absa Premiership campaign off to a winning start under new coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic, as they defeated Chippa United 1-0 at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
Romuvhona Na Anorikonisa: This was a confidence booster for us. Micho’s first game. There were so many good things to be proud of. Good defending, improved transition. Good goalkeeping, passion, and commitment from the players. Above all, the introduction of Innocent Maela and Gladwin Shitolo at the back. So many things to be happy about. So, those who are complaining, you are lost, you must go and support Bush Bucks. At least there is Bucks in it. You don’t know what you want.
Sechaba Ngwenya: Congratulations Mabhakabhaka. What a good start. I wish you can play like this up until the last match of the league title.
Isaac Chops: Haters must leave our coach and players. We are rebuilding our ship and we must bring everyone on board and build a strong unified Orlando Pirates. We don’t want a situation where other players lack confidence in themselves, team and coach. One rotten potato can ruin the rest. It’s a good start. A big thanks to the team… Thamsanqa Gabuza, Innocent Maela and Ntsikelelo Nyauza.
Sydwell Sydres: Michu is a good coach👌👌 nice win Bucs, keep on that momentum and challenge for honors. It’s about time the two Soweto giants come back to the party.
Brighton Mandla Gatsheni: I must admit that was a hell of a game but at least we got the maximum points, I see people are complaining about other players performance ‘guys let us give them some time the coach is building this team. What a player ‘Innocent Maela’ we need such players that know what they want and the goalkeeper is something that we didn’t have last season, but l can see the experience of Wayne Sandilands. He will help us a lot. Luvuyo Memela must pull up his socks if he wanna play for Orlando Pirates, the coach looks like he is organized and knows his story… Up the Bucs!
Bless Chakwimba Mandala: Well done guys, hope you’ve learned a lot from last season. And for sure we are expecting better than this to polish all last season’s rubbish. Just to Mr. Irvin Khoza, three coaches were resigned last season, but this season any mistakes don’t try to touch the coach, what you can do is to sell all players and bring new players. Then you will build better team!!
Elliot S EveReal: This was a good display of football especially for the first game… excellent defence and good midfielders… and also the goalkeeper… well done! However, the striking force still lacking Tendai Ndoro and Thamsanqa Gabuza are still not convincing. Gabuza did well in scoring and get us a win but he’s not consistent and if a striker scores 1 goal out of 7 matches it’s a serious concern. We acknowledge the changes and improvement… the motto should be that our next game must be always better than our previous. It’s on! We are behind you Buccaneers. #OnceAndAlways
