Familiar foes face Nedbank Cup quarterfinals

The 2018 Nedbank Cup quarterfinal battlegrounds are set and as it is a natural progression in football, the last eight teams will need to be familiar with not only the terrain they will be playing on but their opponents too.

Most of the Quarter Finalists in this year’s edition are extremely familiar with one another, which may prove to be the edge that leads them to victory. Featuring two previous winners; one National First Division (NFD) team and five other formidable Premier Soccer League (PSL) sides, the theme of the Last 8 will be about conquering familiar foes.

The 2018 Nedbank Cup Quarter-Final fixtures are scheduled to take place between the 31st of March and the 1st of April. Maritzburg United are up against Bloemfontein Celtic; Ubuntu Cape Town is paired with Free State Stars; Kaizer Chiefs faces Baroka FC and Cape Town City will be contesting Mamelodi Sundowns.

With battle lines drawn and all challenges accepted, each passing day represents the rising stakes and draws nearer to the much-anticipated final. Only those with nerves of steel and adequate preparation will be confident about inching closer to being crowned champions of the historic 11th edition of South Africa’s premier football competition at the Cape Town Stadium on the 19th of May 2018.

Nedbank Executive Head Group Marketing, Khensani Nobanda said, “The Nedbank Cup quarter finals have always had excitingly complex fixtures. We continue to see heart stopping and unexpected departures as is the case with Orlando Pirates who surprised many fans when they lost to Cape Town City at The Cape Town Stadium. Shocking events such as these truly speak to the unpredictability and intensity of the Nedbank Cup.

“We look forward to what the Last 8 has in store for the fans. As we draw closer to the Nedbank Cup Final, we are also reminded of how close we are to the start of the Ke Yona Team Search. Aspiring footballers are looking forward to being part of this great initiative this year and we in turn look forward to the individuals who will make their mark and sow their seeds into professional football as a result of the Search.” Nobanda concluded.

In addition to enjoying a captivating Quarter-Final schedule, fans can also equip themselves for better financial management with affordable banking products, such as the new Nedbank Stokvel Account with zero account transaction fees . Some of the great benefits associated with this account includes a R10 000 burial cover for each member of the Stokvel at only R15 per member per month.
