Barca 2-0 victory at home to Atletico de Madrid last weekend sent them 11 points clear atop the LaLiga Santander table with seven games remaining. Next up for Ernesto Valverde’s men is a trip to bottom club Huesca on Saturday afternoon, with Lionel Messi and company closing in on an eighth title in 11 years.
Saturday evening brings a tasty clash between city rivals Sevilla and Real Betis at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan. Both teams are well in the hunt to qualify for UEFA competition next season, while Sevilla want revenge for losing 1-0 to a late Joaquin Sanchez goal in the reverse fixture of what is known as ‘El Gran Derbi’ – ‘the big derby.’
There is yet another derbi on Sunday at Mestalla as Valencia host city rivals Levante in another of LaLiga’s most historic fixtures. The added element here is that the home side are aiming to continue their climb towards the top four, while a worrying run of results has seen Levante slide to 15th place.
