Amajimbos ready for Namibia test

The South African National Under-17 team, Amajimbos are ready to take on hosts Namibia this afternoon in a Four Nations Tournament.

On Tuesday, 15 April 2014, they trained in cold and windy conditions in Swakopmund.

The chilly weather conditions were in sharp contrast to the scorching heat that greeted Amajimbos upon their arrival earlier in the week. Nevertheless, the team managed to put that aside and focus on the job at hand.

Assistant coach Shawn Bishop said it is crucial to start with a win in the opening match against hosts Namibia.

“This will be a great honour for the boys and entire technical staff. The team spirit is high but we are anxious to see how they will play as a unit,” said Bishop.

Amajimbos suffered a minor injury blow to Avuyile Mkhundlu with an ankle problem. The Medical team advised that he be excused from opening match to allow him time to recover.

South Africa will take on Namibia in their opening match this afternoon, 16 April 2014 at 16h00 Namibian time, with the second match between Ghana and Westphalia of Germany kicking off at 18h00 Namibian time.
